Well, I finally joined the masses and got myself a blog. I'm not sure exactly what to put here, so, er.... hmmm. This blog thing is at once pointless, yet fun. Could get addictive. But I am no stranger to addictions. =)

...now pointlessly rambling for one year. Yes, that piece of brilliance was my very first post on blogger.com. *throws confetti*

Off I go to bed. I don't like going to bed this early, but I have class all day (including the horrific Pre-Raphaelites for three hours), and then work from 8 to midnight. Yuckyness. So my only time to sleep is... *looks around* now.

Before I go, here is Exhibit A for why boredom is a scary thing - one makes mockups of LotR posters.

*trudges off*

"[Plan 9] now start work on the music edit for the long form DVD to Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers which will include a Plan 9 song “Eowyn’s Lament” with vocal by Miranda Otto."

....Eeeeek!! eekeekeekeek! *clears throat* Sorry for that, but eeeek!

Being the certified political pundit that I am, I will now summarize President Bush's address to the nation for those who missed it:

We are going to war. The French are cowards. We will not kill innocent people. Innocent people are defined as people who support a new American puppet regime. Now I will address the Iraqis who are also listening tonight. If you do not want our help, you will be killed. Do not destroy oil wells, because we -- I mean, you -- need them. Thank you and good night.

Sooo... you might say I'm against this war... But I also have the utmost respect for the innocent people who are having to leave their families and risk their lives, in both America and Iraq.

I finished my paper about the Black Death, went to class, then had to go to the station for a work meeting. John was there, and it was nice to see him again. After a few hours of listening to Ingrid explain the proper way to give change, I came home and worked on my take-home midterm essay for the Tolkien class. This essay (surprise surprise) was easy as a breeze to write. The topic I chose was how Tolkien illustrates the conflict between hope and despair in two Rohirric people - Eomer and Eowyn. :-D It's only got about half a page to go now, so I'll finish it this morning.

I've also pretty much decided what I'll do next year: stay here. Yes, dear friends, I have gone insane. But the advantages outweigh the bad things. I'll be able to get another loan refund. I can work on my thesis here, close to Dr. Wood. And I can start taking classes to be a librarian. The idea of being a librarian gives me a happiness about the future that I haven't felt in ages.

I took this Orli obsession quiz and learned: "You got 11 points from 29 questions. You are 62.068965517241% pure! You aren't obsessed, but you like him a lot!" That's valuable knowledge. I wonder if there's a Viggo obsession quiz.

And that concludes my inane rambling for now.

Happy St Patrick's Day! I'm just taking a little break from my Black Death paper, as much as it pains me. Thanks to Jackie for this great sign of Irish goodness, and a plug for Erin's new site layout. By the way, did you know that the Black Death wiped out about half the population of Florence in 1348?

Wellll, my first day back at work was interesting. They moved me to another station, where one of my former coworkers is now the manager. And before certain people think certain things, that former coworker is Ingrid. ;-) They're trying to fix up her store because the old manager let it get all screwed up.

So I was on the register from 6-9, then in the cooler from 9-12. Three hours in the cooler? Yes, because it looked like it hadn't been stocked or organized in about a month. I do believe that I turned into a human popsicle -- grape, or perhaps strawberry flavored. My hands were so numb that I cut myself and didn't even know it till later. It wasn't as fun as the old days, when I'd talk on the phone, get laughed at for not being able to reach the apple juice, and spill leaky Dr Pepper bottles all over myself, but it still felt good to be back. I almost... missed the feel of 40 oz Hurricane whiskey bottles in my hands.

And what first day back would be considered a success without getting hit on by bums?

Me: Good morning, sir, how are you today?
Him: Alright, you?
Me: I'm fine.
Him: Yes you are.
Me: ...........

I slept when I got home, then spent a large part of the evening reading old messages with Alyssa asking 34 questions about lifesavers, and Choi falling in love with blenders and trying to market gummy tookey bookeys.

Today I have the joy of writing an 8-page paper for class tomorrow. At least the topic will be interesting and fun to read and write about: The Black Death. No, seriously!

I wrote a very short and very odd Gollum story last night, and if anyone would care to read it, it's here.
