Conan had Tracy Morgan as one of his guests, and Tracy talked about how much fun he had with Ian McKellen when they were working together on SNL a couple of weeks ago. He said that IM acted like an eighteen-year-old and did all kinds of crazy dances. LOL! I can picture that, actually. I love Ian McKellen. Related Note: Tracy Morgan is absolutely hilarious. The whole time he was on Conan, I kept picturing him when he impersonates Starr Jones ("I am a LAWyah") and Brian Fellows ("That's CRAYzee!"). The funniest thing TM has ever done, though, is that weird little Christmas dance with Horatio Sanz, Jimmy Fallon (raaarrrr), and Chris Kattan. Just read on Moey's blog that the Sugar Quill is having one of their summits, and that they enjoyed a marathon viewing of Pride and Prejudice.... mmm, a gathering of Harry Potter and Jane Austen nuts... I would be in heaven! Well, almost heaven. Heaven would be something involving a) turning in my paper, b) withdrawing a small fraction of my lottery winnings out of the ATM, c) driving to the theater, d) watching Return of the King, rewritten so that Aragorn and Eowyn live happily ever after, e) glancing over at my date, Viggo Mortensen, and saying, "Definitely an Oscar, sweetie." Mmmm hmmm, THAT would be heaven. *Glances at horrid green Isaiah-reference sticky notes again*
12:36 AM |
Awww... I'm watching the new version of Little Women, one of my favorite movies. I love Winona Ryder as Jo, and especially Christian Bale as Laurie. Eek, I just looked up and noticed the green sticky notes on the side of my computer with those Isaiah references that I haven't even looked up yet. Paper, paper, paper, paper....
10:58 PM |
I have taken the first step to actually beginning my paper. I went through and wrote down the references for a bunch of key words, like garden, plant, tree, fruit, flower, leaf, vine, seed, grow, harvest, and sow. Tomorrow I HAVE to go to the library, no ifs, ands, or buts. 12 pages. How? How? Shan and I went and paid the cable bill. I am sooo tired and frustrated with my layout, but I don't know what to do with it. *sigh* This is really a downer sort of post, isn't it?
5:17 PM |
This cartoon is both funny and true.
2:48 AM |
I better go ahead and do a post while blogger.com is working. Today I did . . . . . ummm . . . . nothing, actually. I chatted with Chrissy -- her design for the "May It Be" novel (perfect title!) looks awesome. Shan and I paid the rent and the light bill. Shannon made me a cute little doorhanger thing with a daisy, my favorite flower. I had a strawberry limeade from Sonic. I inhaled and exhaled a bunch of times. Oh yeah, and class. No more classes till Tuesday! Yay!! It's a good thing I enjoy being in front of the computer for long periods of time, because I'll be here for the next four days writing an epic piece of garbage on garden imagery. Zzzzzzz...... huh? what? Oh... right. Right now I'm watching Conan, which is what I'm always doing between 11:30-12:30. He's interviewing that forensic guy, Dr. Michael Baden, who does all the cool forensics shows on HBO. Conan just asked him if examiners really drink coffee and eat sandwiches around corpses, like they do in movies. Dr. Baden said yes, and Conan said, "So you'll have a headless, torso-less body with 50 arrows through it, and just stand there eating a sloppy joe?" Not only did I laugh, but I'm also wondering how you could have a headless, torso-less body to begin with. Note to self: must try to come up with posts that have a point. Countdown to TTT, RotK, and BOOK FIVE: too many days, too many hours, too many minutes.
12:34 AM |
Dr. Green is gone. :-(
9:57 PM |
I have learned my lesson. I was getting tired of blogger.com always being down when I want to post, so I went to Greymatter. First hint that this was a bad idea: set-up was 12 steps. Second hint that this was a bad idea: had to configure some files to be "666" (LOL!). I uploaded all their .cgi files and stuff, did all the CHMOD junk. After much toil and agony, Chrissy's layout and my test post all came up great. I was discouraged about having to start my entire blog over with no posts, but I'd gone to so much trouble already, I was willing to deal with that. But then the archives didn't work. This process took up about two hours total. I have finally decided to stick with blogger.com, and just live with the fact that it doesn't always work. The alternatives are scary. Just deleted two hours worth of work out of my files. In happier news, I chatted with Jen, Alyssa, and Blue for several hours, and talked to my mummy on IM for quite a while. Conan was funny. So besides the time and headache wasted over .cgi and CHMOD, it's been a pretty good evening. If I had money, a finished paper, The Two Towers movie, and BOOK FIVE, my life would be complete.
2:40 AM |
Just joined and became affiliates with Lady Elwing's Eomer fanlist. It's entirely in Elvish -- pretty spiffy! I'm glad seminar's over. We actually got out early today! It was the first time that Dr. Wood has ever let class out early, and I've had him for three classes this year. Tomorrow, I have Christian Literary Classics from 11:00-12:20 (another Dr. Wood class), and then nothing else till Tuesday! Joy! Unfortunately, that four-day weekend will be spent writing my stupid Isaiah paper that I've been putting off all semester. Eeeek!
How would you die in a horror movie?
7:25 PM |
I'm supposed to have read A Canticle for Leibowitz for Catholic Renascence today.... did I read it? Of course not. I read the first 50 pages, and I'm not really into it. I just did a search to find out the plot so I don't look totally lost for three hours, and the reviewer mentioned something about people colonizing other planets. Riiiight. Last night I chatted with Chrissy and Jen on one hand, and my little sister Emma on the other. Chrissy's working on a story in which we three join the Fellowship. I don't know too much about it at this point, but I do know that I end up with Aragorn, so whatever happens in-between is fine by me. I'm a woman from Rohan, but I have the Elvish name Alasse, which means "joy." I want to learn Elvish. One week from now, I will have already turned in my 12-page paper on garden imagery in Isaiah. What will be in said paper? I have no earthly clue, but it will be brought to you by the letters "B" and "S." I'm leaving for class in 20 minutes. Blerg.
1:17 PM |
Well, I'm done with Christian Classics... now just have to get through Isaiah from 2-4:30. Blerg. In CC we talked about John Bunyan, who believed that God chose who would be saved and who would get sent to Hell before he even created the world, and the whole thing was just to show off his justice and mercy. Riiiight.
1:13 PM |
Added a page of movie images to my tribute to Eowyn. Ugh, tomorrow is Tuesday, my most-hated day of the week. I have class from 11:00-4:30, including my 2 1/2 hour Isaiah seminar. Eeeeeesh. And in Christian Classics, we're starting John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress. Double eeeeeeeeeesh. I'll just go watch some TTT footage to make myself feel better. Mmmm, Aragorn and Eowyn sparring.....
11:05 PM |
I am in heaven! At the Blue Board, got a link to one minute of footage from the TTT trailer! I don't know who put it together, but it has most of the best scenes -- Gandalf the White, Faramir, Eomer, Treebeard, and the swordfight of Aragorn and Eowyn! Here's the site (save target as). If for some reason you can't download it or you have a slow connection, I also made a picture page. Joy, joy, joy, joy!
8:42 PM |
Added some new quotes to my tribute to Ickle Ronniekins. =) I also just realized that I didn't dye eggs this Easter... for the first time ever! I didn't even eat a boiled egg! Hmmm. Today's picture in the HP calendar is the Dursleys. Why'd they put so many pictures of the Dursleys in this calendar? It's like the LotR calendar -- a million jillion pictures of Orcs and Saruman and even Arwen. How many pictures of Aragorn? About four. Right, he's only the King, though. And while I'm on a roll (LOL), what's up with the Aragorn-prejudice in the toys? Take the Burger King figures. Almost all of them talk, even Elrond. Does Aragorn say anything? No, but his torch lights up! And the Lego things that talk in the Moria set... Gandalf says about ten different things, and even Gimli has more than one line. What's Aragorn's ONE big line? *ahem* Prepare yourselves: "You should be dead! That spear would've skewered a wild boar." Yes, that's the Aragorn line I remember most from the film. Never mind "You have my sword," or "I will not let the White City fall." No, no, the wild boar line really conveys Aragorn's spirit. WOW, that was a long and completely pointless ramble (see blog title). But it's all the Dursleys' fault... isn't everything? Muggles. *sigh*
1:46 AM |
LOL again! Gryffindor Tower is also having fun on April Fool's. They've posted a "letter" from JKR's publisher, stating that they have to close their site, because it "left her without any desire to write again because she felt she couldn’t surpass the writings found there." Just joined Shannon's new fanlisting for Garfield.
12:30 AM |
Oh my gosh. ROTFLOL. Sugar Quill has put up the most hilarious layout for April Fool's. Go see it!! The melodrama of Gred and Forge! The angst of a house-elf! The softer side of Voldemort! Hermione's secret passion! Draco's new clothing fetish! It is pure genius if you love Harry Potter and know the fandom. The Quill isn't the only HP fanfiction site to have fun on April Fool's... Fiction Alley's main page is now a spoof of LotR, complete with Legolas fussing over his hair and Arwen (appropriately enough) carrying a shopping bag from the Gap.
11:18 PM |
Yes, I know. The index page is different again. I really loved the Strider map, but this way I get him and Eowyn. Win-win situation. And of course, I saved the old one like I always do. I'm watching The Ten Commandments right now -- it's pretty funny. I'm about to add to my movie quotes the wisdom of a Midianite girl: "I wish every day were shearing day!" And I've always loved, "So let it be written. So let it be done." You tell 'em, Pharaoh.
9:00 PM |
Got up early today to go to church. Julie's sermon was really good. There's finally a great new Eomer pic. Unfortunately, it's another helmet picture, so we still can't see his face. I can't wait for videos and stills from the trailer to make their way online... then we'll have droolalicious pics of not only Eomer, but Faramir, Legolas, and Aragorn (mmm) as well. And, for a different kind of drooling, images of Rohan and Edoras. I just added Ickle Ronniekins as an honorable mention in my Pathetic Crushes on Fictional Characters. He's way too young for me (though teeechnically, he's 21 because he was born the year after I was...hmmm), but he definitely deserves a spot on the list for being so brave, witty, and Hermione-crazy. =) Completely pointless note: my goldfish Tevye is always hungry. Always. Kind of like me, I guess.
2:44 PM |
I'm so excited! Lady Elwing created a message forum for my four LotR fanlists -- Middle-Earth Fanlists! Joy! It's also linked from that pretty new button on the right. I decided to add buttons for my three favorite message boards: this new one, Musings of Viggo (creative writing and intelligent discussion, with a perfectly reasonable amount of drooling, considering the subject), and the Sugar Quill (the best Harry Potter fanfiction to be found, and sanctuary for those who regard R/H as more of a way of life than a mere shipping preference). Also joined the Hobbiton fanlist.
