TORn just posted links to sites with crazy subtitles on foreign pirates. For example, according to Galadriel, "None who now lives remembers anything at all"!! Below are a few samples of what these people have done to LotR. ROTFLOL!!

I'm watching a truly terrible 60s science fiction B-movie with my whole family. They just now showed a bunch of astronauts floating around in space, doing all kinds of flips and formations, all to the tune of "Auld Lang Syne." We were all in pain from laughing so hard!! The costumes look like the uniforms of post office workers, and the sets have those cool sliding doors that look and move like cardboard. Now there's a rocket taking off, and it sounds like a vacuum cleaner with something caught in it.

Well, I'm home. Finally. Here is the sad and true tale of DeeDee and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day....3:00 - I leave for home. ETA noon.
9:00 - my car breaks down near the Mississippi state line; I call my parents to let them know what happened, then the police
9:40 - police arrive
10:00 - tow truck arrives
1:00 - after being told that what they fixed "might work," I leave the shop
1:20 - my car breaks down again; apparently it didn't work
2:20 - they come back to get my car again (yes, that was a whole hour of sitting in my car with no air-conditioning)
4:00 - I set off once more
6:30 - I finally get homeThe only good side to this is that I had brought along The Silmarillion, and finally I was forced to start reading it during all those hours at the shop. What I've read so far is just beautiful! It's very poetic, much prettier writing than LotR. When I got home and set up my computer, my mom FINALLY got to see the TTT trailer! Right now I'm listening to Jefferson Airplane with my Dad. Mom, Emma, and Martha are at Martha's first softball game of the season. Chrissy set up a great page for our "Ewan as Lupin" petition.... go sign it! (priiiiitty please!)
8:12 PM |
I registered for my classes next fall. Since I took all religion classes this year, I get to take two English classes next term! Yay! I'm signed up for Church Fathers, Old English Language, and Creative Writing. I need to go to bed early again tonight, since I always leave for home at 3 in the morning. There's much less traffic (obviously!) and it gets me home at noon. Got this quiz from Alanna's journal. I was hoping for R/H, of course, but J/L is always good!!
7:37 PM |
Mmmm, lots of much-needed sleep last night! I popped in my Anne of Green Gables DVD at 6:30, fell asleep around 7:00, and woke up at 4:30. Then I played on the internet for a little while, went back to bed, and slept till 9:00. It was wonderful. I'd only had a total of 10 hours of sleep from Sat. morning till last night. Catholic Renascence today from 2-5. We're reading Flannery O'Connor's Wise Blood. I LOVE Flannery O'Connor, so today should be pretty good. Tomorrow morning I'm driving home for the weekend! Yippee!!

ROTFLOL! Laura Q just posted this on the Musings of Viggo message board:"They were women once. Just ordinary women. Then Viggo the Believer gave to them nine things of power (art, photography, poetry, music, acting, hair, eyes, stubble, and voice). Blinded by his brilliance, they took them without question, and now they are slaves who cannot get their fill. They are the Nazgirls...Kingwaifs...neither single nor wed. At all times they are drawn to the presence of the king---drawn to the power of the fun. They will never stop wanting him..."
Yay! PKoGF forever!!
5:24 PM |
Yay! The dreaded classes are over with. I almost fell asleep in Isaiah... and of all days for him not to give us a break during the 2 1/2 hours, it had to be the day that I didn't sleep the night before. Sheesh. I used a line from Gerard Manley Hopkins for my title -- "Nature is Never Spent," and Dr. Kennedy stopped when he was gathering the papers and said, "Oooh, Hopkins! I can't wait to read this." Riiight. He's a reader-response critic and loves "intertextuality," which basically means that 1) whatever I say is correct, and 2) I can use quotes from totally unrelated works of literature. So did I quote LotR in my Isaiah paper? You're dern right I did! I quoted the passage about Aragorn finding the White Tree of Gondor in bloom again.Tomorrow morning I'm going to register for next term. The secretary informed me that I would be taking 9 hours in the fall (two of which have to be English classes... yay!), and only 1 in the spring -- my thesis hour. Hmmm, um... I was sorta kinda planning on taking Dr. Wood's Oxford class in the spring, talking about Tolkien and Dorothy Sayers all semester! Eek, must talk to Dr. Wood when he gets out of the hospital. Aaanyway, time to "go for some chow," as Viggo says in The Indian Runner.
4:56 PM |
I am so tired... I'm about to fall asleep as I type this. I have no idea how I'm going to get through my classes today. My paper is way below the required word count, but it's just going to have to stay that way, because I've said all I have to say. I wish I could just go to sleep and not wake up for a week.
10:00 AM |
*discouraged, weary sigh* Well. It IS supposed to be 12 pages. I've written 4. It's due in 12 1/2 hours. No sleep for DeeDee tonight... at least I'm used to that. The problem is, I've made my point. What am I going to do with the next 8 pages? Better go and figure something out....
1:27 AM |
Two pages down, four to go. Just joined a spiffy new fanlisting for Tom Bombadil and Goldberry! Back to work....
9:51 PM |
I HAVE A THESIS STATEMENT!! *happy dance, happy dance*
5:42 PM |
Well, some of the stress is off! I just reread my syllabus and found that my paper only has to be 6 pages, not 12! *happy dance* It'll be a lot easier to sustain a thesis-statement-less argument, plus that's 6 pages less that I have to write of BS about vines, seeds, and harvests. Ana-Gastayer-as-Martha-Stewart voice: "And that's a good thing." And may I just close this post by remarking that Cheetos are really, really good?
4:58 AM |
And this site's image went down for some reason, but I took Which hobbit are you? and got Merry. Yay, since he's my favorite hobbit!
