My wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful friend Cassie is going to loan me the money to pay my rent tomorrow. I hope I get hired somewhere soon. Anyway, that's one huuuuge weight off of me right now.

Well, my whole family drove to Louisiana this morning. Too bad I'm way over here in Texas. Rent's due tomorrow. Shame I don't have any money. 25-page paper due Wednesday. Too bad I haven't started it yet. I'm being negative again in my blog. Good thing no one has to read it.

Shannon and I saw Spiderman today. It was a fun movie, and I enjoyed it. Not a classic or anything, but a good theater movie. I love Tobey Maguire, and Willem Dafoe was his usual awesome, freaky self.

Required paper length: 12 pages
Amount written: 1.8937 pages
Days till rent is due: 4
Number of stressful thoughts: 1,234,567,890 ...... 891I'm taking a break to blog. Those numbers may seem bleak, but that's only because I spent half the night thinking what I wanted to write (and chatting with blue and Alyssa). Now all I have to do is write it. I got a little more good news today! My big 25-page paper has been moved from Monday to Wednesday! This is a procrastinator's dream come true! Tomorrow from 11:00-12:30 is my very last class of this semester, and the very last class of my first year in grad school. It started off so well, and then . . . well, let's just say that things aren't so good now. Callie, one of my friends from college, IM-ed me today to tell me that she's engaged. My friend since 4th grade, Jeremey, emailed me to tell me about his graduation from Ole Miss this month. What he did with that extra year in college, I don't know. ;-)

Something good actually happened today. It was my turn in seminar to present my paper -- the one I wrote overnight back in March. *innocent grin* I was reaaaally worried about presenting it because it was below the required word count, and a guy in my class had already been told that he wasn't going to pass the seminar because of his paper! So I have been feeling sooo nervous since the presentations started a few weeks ago, on top of everything else that has been stressing me out. So when Dr. Kennedy got to my paper, I thought, "Oh no, here we go...." But he said that it was good, that I had "poetic prose," and that my paper was "charming" and "refreshing." I wanted to dance around the room, especially since I've been feeling so discouraged lately about the field I've chosen, and just grad school in general. I'm also quite proud because I actually quoted LotR in a paper about Isaiah! LOL. The professor loves "intertextuality," and I was doing garden imagery, so I quoted the passage about Aragorn finding the White Tree of Gondor. I did it 99% to amuse myself that I was putting LotR in an Isaiah paper, but the professor loved it. I still think it's funny.Shannon spent all weekend making banners for a Truett ceremony, and I've been teasing her the whole time, because of Arwen's big accomplishment of making the banner for Aragorn. So on her nametag today for the ceremony, Shannon wrote "Arwen, Banner Maker Extraordinaire." That cracked me up.
The only bad news of the day is that I found out my 12-page paper on Gerard Manley Hopkins is due Thursday, not Monday. Eeeeek. However, since I'm in a relatively good mood (compared to the past week, at least), I'm going to look at it as a GOOD thing. It'll force me to get that small paper out of the way, and focus my weekend only on the big 25-pager that IS due Monday. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts...... And wow, this is a super-long post. Sorry to anyone who actually read it! LOL.

Awwwwww, Alyssa made me a Viggo sign to help me feel better! It is so sweet, and she's sweet for making it! I looooove it. Also, Shannon made a very disturbing image that combines Monty Python with LotR. Blue wrote me a beautiful story about me meeting Viggo in a liquor store while he reads poetry to loaves of bread. Don't ask. *sigh* My week of classes starts tomorrow (today technically). If I can get through the next week, I will breathe a sigh of relief. Never mind the fact that finals and these upcoming papers are the least of my worries..... *hides under a rock*

May I just rant for a moment? I guess I can, since it's my blog, and no one has to read it anyway. This is one of those times in life where I just wish I could disappear. By next Monday, I have to turn in two papers (a 12-pager and a 25-pager) and pay my rent (even though I have absolutely no money). I need to find a job. My car is being stupid because it knows that I don't have the money to fix it. I can't send payments to my credit cards. My tax refund hasn't come in yet. I wanted to go home for the summer, but I'm probably going to have to stay here in Wack-o Texas. *sigh* I guess that about sums it up. To half-cheer me up, this is my desktop right now. It is what I want to go home to see, instead of being here, stressed out and scared.Sorry, guys, I just needed to get it out. If anyone actually read it, I apologize for being negative. But I am not a happy camper right now.
In much, much brighter news, my little sister Emma's friend is not going to need brain surgery. Her aneurism is gone! My brother Bobby drove Emma to Jackson to visit Tabitha in the hospital, and she was released that same day.
4:44 AM |
Last night Alyssa and I went on a BB posting frenzy. She was trying to catch up to the number of blue's posts, and she did! And I was trying to reach 500 so I could become a Little Billy, and I did! Many pointless posts were made. In other news, my papers are now due in 8 days. I should start writing them.
