Welcome to "Bittersweet," the fanlisting for Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish writer who lived from 1805-1875. Andersen is most famous for his beloved fairy tales, which include The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Wild Swans, Thumbelina, The Princess and the Pea, The Emperor's New Clothes, and The Steadfast Tin Soldier. His fairy tales, while beautiful, often end sadly, and even the happy ones don't have perfect "happily ever after" endings.
