This morning we left Jerusalem and headed out to our first stop, Caesarea . . . beautiful ruins on the Mediterranean.

Next on the list was Mt. Carmel, which provided a great view. It was also cool because it's the setting of one of my favorite Bible stories -- Elijah and the prophets of Baal.

Then we went to see the Jewish catacombs at Beth She'arim, where they had some pretty neat sarcophagi. One was the sarcophagus of the Nikes, and I took a picture of Jenny wearing, you guessed it, that brand of shoes, lying inside it. I hope it comes out. I also learned that sarcophagus -- Greek "flesh-eater" -- is so named because the limestone makes the body decompose faster. Weirdness!

After that, we went to Megiddo, and were disappointed because we didn't see the end of the world. But we DID see Mt. Tabor.

From Megiddo we drove to our hotel right on the Sea of Galilee [Ein Gev]. We're going to stay here for two nights, then move on to the kibbutz. This hotel is an ostrich ranch!

After supper, we went swimming. It was absolutely gorgeous. On one side, we had a full moon, and on the opposite, a beautiful sunset over Tiberias, which is across the sea from us. The water was warm and wavy. Dr. B, Will, and I went pretty far out, but the others stayed kind of close.

Well, I'm going to bed. (No cisterns today!)
